Only a short jaunt from our farm house there is the studio of Skubin, with exemplary artistic ceramics (click to watch video).

On the nearby hills you can visit the church of Sveta Marija na jezeru (St. Mary on the Lake) with its beautiful late-Gothic altar or you can go to Dobrovo castle and see the permanent exhibition of Zoran Mušič, the famous village painter. Twelve kilometres away from Breg is the picturesque mediaeval village Šmartno, and the town of Cividale is even closer at just 10 km away.

Those who like exploring nature can admire the beauties of Krčnik, a natural valley, eroded by the brook Kožbanjšček, and you can admire the wonderful growth of pretty primroses in the nearby Golo Brdo.

If you are interested in the events of the Great War you can go to Sabotin (25 km) or to Kobarid (Caporetto) (40 km), where you can visit the WW1 museum. Sveta Gora (Saint Mountain) above Solkan (30 km) and Castelmonte above Cividale (15 km) will impress and thrill you with their imposing basilicas. The panoramic tower of Gonjače (20 km), on the other hand, will give you a spectacular view of the Alps, the Dolomites, the Friuli region, Karst and on a clear day views to the sea. If the weather is good to you, you may have the chance to see Venice rising from the distance (120 km away).

Postojna Cave (Postojnska jama) will reveal its mysterious depths (80 km) and during the hot months you can refresh yourselves in the sea (Grado, 40 km) or climb the Brica Korada (“Tricorno del Collio”, 812 m). It only takes half an hour to reach Udine (25 km).
Those who are interested in the cultural side of things can attend the poetry and wine festivals held in Medana (in the autumn), the MMMart in spring and autumn (in Medana), in summer the Mittelfest in Cividale. You can also attend concerts and exhibitions in Šmartno and, if you are of a friendly disposition we suggest that you join in during the “cherries festival”, the festivals “Collio” and “wine”, the “wine and oil festivals”… For more information visit the following website www.brda.si. Domestic animals in the farmhouse

Children of all ages will surely like the goats, hens, peacocks, rabbits, ducks and puppies and can enjoy them in their natural environment.

Alpe Adria Trail

The Alpe-Adria-Trail connects the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in a total of 43 stages and circa 750 km. Stage 30 starts in Breg at Golo Brdo, which puts our tourist farm in a perfect position.
